Crust Hardcore
A blunt description of the place where hardcore punk and crust's dirty weight are difficult to separate.
Crust Hardcore describes bands that stay close to Hardcore punk's direct rhythmic attack while using the rough guitar distortion, D-beat patterns and political culture associated with crust.
These approaches have crossed since the British anarcho-punk and Hardcore scenes of the 1980s. Discharge, Antisect and Doom belong to the wider history, though the exact sound and scene of each band should be named rather than compressed into a fictional founding movement called Crust Hardcore.
A harsher punk rhythm
Fast drums, abrasive guitars and barked vocals can drive a song without the extended metallic passages associated with some crust-metal bands. Slow sections may still appear, and production is often rough. The expression is useful when the hardcore component remains especially clear.
On IDIOTEQ
In this archive the label sits on d-beat and crust-leaning Hardcore coverage: the venomous d-beat crust hardcore of CONVINCE, a remembrance of Tijuana crust punk legends DISCORDIA and UNDERGUST's crust and grind shift.
