Death Punk

Loud punk rock with theatrical darkness and rock-and-roll bravado, a name whose scope depends on who uses it.

Death Punk has been closely associated with Norwegian band Turbonegro, who applied a deliberately provocative theatrical style to punk-derived hard rock. The name sometimes appears in discussions of related Scandinavian action-rock groups, but it does not describe the same Los Angeles scene as Deathrock. Turbonegro's sound combined hard-rock riffs, punk attack and a self-conscious performance identity. If the IDIOTEQ article uses Death Punk in another sense, this history may not apply.
