Goth Pop
Darker post-punk color brought into clearly written, melodic pop songs.
Goth Pop is an elastic label for records using some of gothic rock's bass, vocal presentation or darker harmony inside Pop structures. Certain songs by the Cure show the crossover especially clearly, while later darkwave and Synth-Pop artists found their own melodic paths. The term is not a guarantee of one scene or a particular tempo. A direct chorus can sit beneath treated guitars or a drum machine; the song may be sad, playful or sharply rhythmic.
