Horror Pop

Catchy songs using eerie storytelling and theatrical imagery without abandoning pop melody.

Horror Pop has no single established musical lineage. Horror themes can enter synth Pop, punk, electronic pop and theatrical songwriting without changing the basic instrumental method. Some dark cabaret artists and groups nearer Horror Punk place strong melodies beside macabre narratives; others use sound design to build tension. Horror Pop differs from Horror Punk when punk's rhythmic and scene connections are absent, and it differs from Shock Rock when the stage performance rather than the recorded pop song is the central idea.
