Noir Punk

Punk songs told with the shadows, crime narratives and theatrical restraint associated with film noir.

Noir Punk is a particularly uncertain label with no established continuous historical scene. It can suggest punk-rooted music using darker storytelling, jazz-related instruments, spoken vocals or an understated theatrical approach. Some Post-Punk and deathrock recordings contain those features, but that does not prove they belong to a genre called Noir Punk. The adjective noir may refer to lyrics and visual identity more than tempo or instrumentation.
