Synth Metal
Metal arrangements where synthetic melodies and electronics share the central work with heavy guitars.
Synth Metal is a loose descriptor rather than an independent movement with one clear beginning. Electronic instruments have been present in progressive and Industrial Metal for decades, and later bands made synthesizer hooks central to more melodic heavy music. The result may be close to Industrial Metal, Symphonic Metal or alternative electronic rock depending on the recording. A keyboard playing beneath a metal riff is not enough to establish a genre.
