Breakcore

Breakbeats cut apart and reassembled until their rhythm becomes a series of shocks.

Breakcore developed across Electronic underground networks during the 1990s and early 2000s, drawing on jungle's sampled breaks, hardcore techno, noise and digital production. The label has described a wide set of artists, from deliberately chaotic collages to the precise rhythmic shifts of Venetian Snares. Instead of a steady programmed kick, a drum break can be chopped into short fragments, sped up, interrupted or placed against incompatible textures. The music spread through labels, computers and online communities as much as physical club scenes. It overlaps with Digital Hardcore, but those scenes have different histories and should not be treated as interchangeable.
