Doomgaze

Doomgaze is a relatively recent description for recordings that place Doom's deliberate guitar weight alongside Shoegaze's blurred harmonies and layered effects. King Woman provides a clear musical reference through slow, heavily amplified arrangements and an individual treatment of voice and texture. Other bands approach related sounds from post-metal or dream pop, which makes the name more useful as a listening clue than as evidence of one founding movement.

A sustained guitar chord can gather harmonics while the bass and drums create a slow pulse beneath it. The vocal may remain exposed or sit deep inside the mix. Some recordings retain doom's metallic edge; others sound closer to dense shoegaze. That variation should be acknowledged rather than hidden behind a strict single-origin story.
