Electropop

Pop songwriting built from synthetic bass, electronic rhythm and memorable melodies.

Electropop and Synth-Pop have overlapping histories, stretching back to late-1970s Electronic experiments and the British and international Pop of the early 1980s. The term became especially visible again during the late 2000s, when digital production and electronically driven pop entered a different commercial era. The Human League, Depeche Mode, Ladytron and La Roux illustrate different balances of melody, machinery and vocal personality. Electropop often emphasizes the overall electronic production, whereas Synth-Pop can refer more specifically to an earlier stylistic tradition, but their borders are not precise. The same artist may fit both depending on the album.
