Post-Industrial
Experimental music developed after industrial's first wave, often leaving its original confrontational noise behind.
Post-Industrial is a wide retrospective description for music emerging from the Industrial underground after the late 1970s. Coil, Current 93 and Psychic TV illustrate different changes in method, from electronics and ritualistic performance to acoustic instrumentation and more developed song forms. Some artists moved toward Dark Ambient, neofolk, electronic dance music or Experimental pop. There is no one post-industrial drum pattern or guitar sound. The term works best when it identifies a historical network and the distinct musical routes leaving it, not as a claim that all later industrial metal, techno or ambient records have one parent.
